Long time, no blog!
I’ve been slacking on blog updates lately! Between wedding inquiries, bride meetings, email piles and my surprise! abdominal surgery, I am just now catching up from my recovery time. I have also been shooting! I’ve lost all use of my Cactus V4 triggers. They both died within a few months of getting them (the 2nd one died a few WEEKS after I got them) so am just miserable over losing my wireless flash ability.
HOWEVER, I’m going to suck it up and buy a couple Pocket Wizards this month, whether I can afford them or not…because I am just dying with being tethered to a flash.
As for 2010 weddings I’ve got about 15 inquiries pending and a few confirmed dates already. I get inquiries every week so I’m hoping to have lots of work this year! This is my 2nd year and I feel really confident about my ability to improve this year and really push myself. Thanks to all the couples who are trusting me with such an important job!
Now, onto some photos! Here’s a sample of my last few projects.
Last night my friend and photographic muse Hope stopped by with the lovely Adrienne on their way to a club to see their friend spin. We had an awesome hour long session just goofing around. I spent a couple of hours figuring out how to set up high-key (white backdrop, bright) lighting with one slaved flash and one attached to a sync cord. I manged it with the assistance of flags and reflectors and some stretching of muscles I probably shouldn’t have stretch. Anything for the photos, right?
And a few nights ago I did a last-minute session with some friends for their new band, Sauriel. We didn’t have a lot to work with (again, this no wireless flash this is obnoxious) but we got some good shots to start with and will be shooting again after I get my PWs.
I also shot some self portraits just screwing around and finally got some I like so I could update my website photo and whatnot. One light, shoot through umbrella camera right, black side of a zip disc for backdrop.
Alright, I’ve got to get back to editing! Thanks for reading!
Show: Accu Billiards July 17th, 2009
Here’s some favorites from the Accu show last weekend. Unfortunately for Smite The Righteous I’m was 4 beers past being able to not suck, so they only had a dozen keepers and they’re not all that great. Sorry, guys!
TERROR RISING [myspace link]
Full flickr set here.
WITHERED SUN [myspace link]
Full flickr set here. Scroll down for this show, there’s a lot of WS shows in the same set.
SMITE THE RIGHTEOUS [myspace link]
Full flickr set here. (Contains other shows, scroll down for this show.)
Woodchipper Demise [myspace link] also played but I didn’t shoot them because there was a hired photographer there. However it turned out I couldn’t just be there and not shoot and only lasted through their set and half of Terror Rising’s before I ran out to the car for my camera.
Rampant Decay @ The New Wave 06.12.09
Here’s a few from the Rampant Decay show at the New Wave Cafe in New Bedford last weekend:

Show: Club Oasis
Favorites from the show last Saturday night
Rohirrim
Divinity Destroyed
Withered Sun
(Shot in the angled mirrors on the ceiling)

Dreaded Silence
AAAAnd my favorite shot, Dreaded Silence did the Sentenced song “Noose” in honor of their somewhat recently deceased songwriter, Miika Tenkula. (RIP) Ken strung a noose on his mic stand for the song.
Withered Sun Promo shoot
Friday night I went out to take some on-stage and posed shots for Withered Sun. Here’s some of my favorites and as always you can click through any of the pictures to my Flickr account for more!
Forgot to post these!
I forgot to post the show I shot last week of a couple of younger punk bands in Boston. I had a tough time because they turned out all the lights in the place so my auto-focus just wasn’t happening, but overall I had fun and the bands were happy with them.
Here’s some of my favorites:
Band Shoot: Withered Sun Practice
I have always loved taking pictures. There’s pretty much no photographs of me that I didn’t take myself from ages 14-26 because I’m always behind the camera. But what really glued me to photography was shooting concerts and local shows with my little P&S camera.
I haven’t gotten a chance to take me SLR to a show much since the baby was born (for obvious reasons), so I was happy to play around at my husband’s new band’s practice yesterday. We were supposed to do a formal show but they were short a member so that had to wait.
Anyway, here’s some shots from yesterday. I played around with my DIY Snoot and some flash drag.
This guy, Rob doesn’t move around as much as the other guys so I played around with jerking the camera to give the photos a little more motion:

I used the snoot to light up selected parts and pieces
And had good time with my off-camera flash from overhead, below, and the side!
Rest of pics here.

My super-awesome friend MetalGeorge (of Metal Maniacs fame for those in the heavy metal know) is also hooking me up with a photopass to Soilwork February 9th. Can’t wait for that.
