Wedding: Shelby & Mark
My last wedding for 2009! I know Shelby from a knitting forum, so shooting her wedding was extra fun. She and Mark met on the internet and spent a lot of years not seeing each other in person very often…until now! We were crossing our fingers that Mark, who is from Wales, would get his visa in time for the wedding! It came just in time and we had some seriously beautiful foliage in New Hampshire as a backdrop for their beautiful wedding.
Here’s some favorites, flickr set here.
(This little munchkin was the ring bearer and just impossibly cute)
Congratulations Shelby & Mark!! You guys have a great story and I wish you the best in writing the rest of it!
Wedding: Chris & Darlene
I went utterly trigger happy at this wedding…with my camera, not a gun…so this one took a while! Chris and Darlene were married last month at Bittersweet Farms and they couldn’t have asked for a better day. It was beautiful out and their friends and family gave them quite a reception!
Here’s some favorites! Flickr set here.
Congratulations Chris and Darlene! Thanks for trusting me to capture your wedding day!
Wedding: Mara & David
Pulled an all night-er finishing these up last night (and all of this morning), but dammit I wanted to catch up! Now I’m all caught up. Well, I’m not late for anything anyway. I still have another wedding and a roller derby to do this week!
Mara and David got married at Springstep dance studio and man, what a unique place! I had some giant orange walls to get around but all in all the warm glow of the orange and the diffused daylight from a floor to ceiling window did some nice things for the photos!
This family DANCES, too! Usually I’m done shooting reception dancing after a few songs, but these people really gave me something to work with! It was a great time!
Here’s some favorites. Flickr set here.
Wedding: Colleen & Jeremy
1 of 3 weddings down! Trying to catch up on work and stay on top of school has been crazy!! I have to do 2 shoots tomorrow for class, two family shoots coming up, 2 weddings to edit, one in November and the Providence Roller Derby championship bout to edit! Free time? What free time?
Colleen and Jeremy aren’t strangers to being shown off here, you might remember their engagement session back in the spring. They were the subjects of one of my favorite pictures I’ve taken:
Well, they finally tied the knot on September 12th, 2009. Here’s some favorites: [full set here]
Congratulations Colleen and Jeremy! You guys were so fun and I hope you have a long, happy marriage!
Wedding: Jessica and Matt
Whew! Took me a week longer than normal to finish these up…school and work and kids all at once make for much less editing time! Anyway, Jess and Matt were married about three weeks ago and had a really beautiful ceremony and fun reception. The sun was bright, right overhead in a cloudless sky and it must have been in the mid-90s temperature-wise…tough lighting conditions but I managed (thank you fill flash).
Here’s some favorites, full set here.
Thanks for letting me photograph your wedding Jess and Matt! Congratulations!
Wedding: Nate & Amanda
These two were so fun! You can’t beat a good-looking couple with a fantastic sense of humor, I had a great time shooting them! It was a beautiful day, too…well…a little hot when you’re the brilliant photographer that only owns black dressy clothing.
Some of my favorites:
Congratulations Nate and Amanda! Thanks for letting me capture your happy day!
Wedding: Ben & Molly
My 2nd wedding of the season was Ben & Molly’s back in early June. These two were about as cool as they come. Totally unique wedding full of personal touches, good music (their wedding song was Nothing Else Matters of pre-suck Metallica fame) and a sweet family full of photographers!
Photographers reading this might be thinking “ugh, that must have been awful…like 10 second shooters”. Nope. Photographers, I’ve found…in my very short career doing this…stay way out of the “official” photogs way. It’s those Uncle Bobs with the point and shoots that you have to worry about! These guys were great and it was fun to talk gear with them in between shooting.
Anyway, Ben rented some fun lenses for me and the guests to play with. I fell totally in love with the wide-angle. I believe it was a 10-20mm? I forget and I’m too lazy to look but it was something like that. A Sigma. I totally hogged it all day, sorry other photog guests.
It was a beautiful day, beautiful location (in Woods Hole, MA…on the Cape) and very relaxed.
All day Ben and I nerdily awaited the sunset for some Strobist-esque shots (we’re both fans of the blog) and while it wasn’t as colorful as I’d have liked, we got some of my absolute favorite shots…when my craptastic Poverty Wizard V2’s would fire, anyway. (I just got the V4s…more on that later.)
Here’s an example of where my flash was, behind a shoot-through umbrella:
Congratulations Ben & Molly, thanks for having me! You guys were a blast!
EDIT: Duane (Ben’s Dad) was kind enough to send me the lens info on that wide-angle, it was a Tokina 11-16 F2.8 ATX DX PRO. It was a fun lens. Duane also sent a bunch of pics of my husband and I working, which are so cool! Thanks, Duane!! Duane is also a very talented photographer, check out his portfolio here.
Wedding: Chris & Terri
Ah, the most terrifying experience of any newb photog’s life…shooting a much better photographer’s wedding. Oh none of you have done that? I recommend it, I no longer even twitch over upcoming gigs. If you’ve never gone through photos and made yourself sick over every little decision you made behind the lens, you truly haven’t lived.
Terror and contemplations of how I got myself into this aside, Chris & Terri had the most amazing wedding. The sky rumbled but never rained and gave us flawless light for the formals, everything went smoothly and I got to watch my friend shed some (very manly) tears and marry the love of his life. And did I mention open bar and karaoke? That part was pretty cool too.
Here’s some favorites!
Congratulations Chris & Terri, <3!
Wedding: Jeff & Liz
OK! I’m finally getting to posting some pics from my June weddings! I’ve got one more to edit and another I’m waiting on the OK on some stuff before I post (and those are gooood ones, can’t wait to post them!)
Jeff and Liz got married June 20th, they were my first super-formal/traditional wedding so they did the church thing and all that. It was my first time shooting in a church…the priest snipped at me for going behind the altar. Sorry dude! I’m sort of a heathen, I don’t know these things!
I also took a 2nd shooter with me who is starting out and that was great. She got some wonderful couple shots at the reception (Honesty time…I hate trying to shoot those AND follow the couple!).
Here’s some favorites! Full set on Flickr here.
Liz’s dress was NO JOKE, folks…

Congratulations Jeff and Liz!! Thank you for letting me capture your day!
Wedding: Chris & Betty
Here’s some favorites from Chris & Betty’s wedding. They’re a fun couple and had probably the greatest Irish blessing I’ve ever heard given by a guy who looked just like my Grandpa Kinsley (which was kinda bumming me out and making me smile simultaneously.)
I have some show pics from the New Wave Cafe show last weekend to do and an engagement session next weekend! Gotta love the busy season!
